|A SOCIO-LINGUISTIC APPROACH TO EDUCATION
A) NAME OF THE PROJECT
''Finding Foreigners For Effective Teaching METHOD'' (About Language Teaching)
B) HOW TO APPLY : It is based upon introducing the tourists or other foreigners such as businessmen and workers in town to the students in the school.Our duty is finding and inviting the foreigners who speak English Language (as Lingua Franca) from hotels,museums and factories into the lessons.Then oral communication between the students and our guest should be maintained in the target language as much as they can.
In further steps, we had better organise simple trips taking these people and our pupils to historical or other must-see places.For instance, we may have a picnic together in an area that has natural beauties.
Evaluation will be made by the students and foreigners naturally.They will teach their own languages and cultural values to themselves by correcting mistakes immediately.Language lessons will turn into a play.At the end of the study little girls and boys will notice their character development.They will have increased their linguistic performance,too.
C) EFFECTS AND RESULTS OF THE PROJECT
C.1) Most of the students involving in the project will meet the foreigners for the first time.
C.1.1) They'll grasp the main function of a foreign language by using it after speaking to both native speakers and non-native ones.
C.1.2) Foreign Language lessons will become more interesting and more enthusiastic for the teenagers due to the magical atmosphere of these meetings in language lessons.
C.2) During the process of Turkey's negotations to be a member of European Union, students will be able to learn and see what the meaning of being a multi-cultural society is.
C.2.1) The project stands itself as a barrier to racism and xenophobia.
C.2.2) The method encourages the students to learn how to speak a foreign language quickly.They will have a great motivation to do that after they spend sometime with foreigners in the class-room and outside.
C.3) The immigrants or foreign visitors who are in need of learning different things and the languages of the host country, can get advantages from the method well if they accept joining in the project.
C.3.1) Thanks to internet and other means, the mutual relationship among the students and foreigners begins.That means new experiences and gainings will occur for both parts.Once you introduce the people from other nations to your students, then you'll see the startings of new friendships and enjoyable parts of learning foreign languages.
C.3.2) In accordance with the EU Education Programmes, countries' policies will have more intimate relations by the beginning of new dialogues of their citizens as a result of these studies.
C.3.3) Communication and the need to communicate arising from the participiants' desires will supply a turning point for our countries as well.
C.3.4) You can see the realization of universal peace and brotherhood if you apply the method well.
C.4) The more you apply the method, the more you achieve the goals above.
D) PROJECT'S ECONOMICAL BENEFITS
It has an alternative linguistic effect on foreign language teaching.It's not only ideal for the schools in cities trying to be involved in EU education system as in Comenius,but also applyable for the students of rural areas whose social environment and materials are restricted.In countrysides,being involved in an education programme is too hard on account of limited conditions and non-maintainableness.Therefore, our approach plays a significant role in their lives by presenting fantastic memories, illuminating their minds and their future from the pointview of their education.
As for the tourism, the project is a kind of struggling within the international platform against the corrupt news of mass-media that give harms to the images of the countries.
In sum, 3F-ET Method can be a colourful bridge between communities and European World.Just do it!
